Probably I've been thinking about Boat Building since I was a child ...
Fast Forward to 1996 ... I had some time to spend while on a vacation in Manhattan and went into a Barnes & Nobles Shop. There I stumbled on a book called "Boats with an open Mind" by Philip Bolger. This was my first exposition to hobbyists boat building literature and plans, and I was hooked. I don't know many times I've leafed through that book.
Later, in the early 2000s I found a book about Skin on Frame Boatbuilding, which at last lead me to building my first boat: a Skin on Frame Canoe.
